Potter House 4 - 415 State Street366 viewsThere was no Potter House from 1943 to 1948. When the Club reorganized in 1948, the house at 415 State Street became Potter House. It housed men at times on 4 floors, including a room at the front in the basement. The basement also housed the kitchen. The main floor contained a living room, two dining rooms, a library, and a serving kitchen. Men were housed on the second and third floors with rooms ranging from capacities of 2 to 4. Three additional rooms located on the fourth floor housed some of the kitchen and wait staff. These rooms included a single and two doubles. The rest of the 4th floor was attic.
The building (as it appears in 2006) was leased from the Albany YMCA which occupied the mirror-image building across the courtyard at the left of the photo. The house at 415 State Street was occupied from 1948 until 1964. The building is now part of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government, housed in the adjoining building at 413 State Street. 415 State Street is known as the Malcolm Wilson Building.
